Trojan Lighting was selected to supply advanced smart lighting to the operating theatres at Lewisham Hospital as part of a wider upgrade to the facility’s infrastructure. The project involved a mix of new and retrofitted luminaires, all designed to meet the specific needs of clinical spaces – high-performance, reliable, and easily controlled.
The lighting solution included Lowcroft modular panel lights, Grimrod industrial luminaires, Ambleside downlights and 37 retrofitted gear trays. Every fitting was equipped with Tridonic CRI 90 advanced LED boards, DALI drivers, and a Mymesh wireless node to enable full integration into the hospital’s smart lighting network.
A key feature of this installation was its wireless flexibility. Mymesh nodes allowed for real-time configuration and control across the theatre spaces without the need for invasive work which is essential in such a sensitive environment. Working closely with the Mymesh and Tridonic technical teams, Trojan was able to remotely adjust lighting performance and update settings without disruption to the hospital’s schedule.
After a simple power cycle by the hospital team, the lighting output had been fully optimised, demonstrating how smart technology can deliver fast, effective results without physically accessing fittings or altering the theatre environment.
This case study illustrates the strength of Trojan’s intelligent lighting solutions in healthcare settings. By combining robust fittings with wireless infrastructure and technical collaboration, the team delivered a system that supports clinical precision, minimises maintenance, and adapts easily to future needs.
