Trojan Lighting Delivers a World First

Trojan Lighting has delivered a landmark project at Westquay Shopping Centre in Southampton, completing a large-scale LED upgrade across back-of-house and car park areas.

This project is the first in the world to use the new Mymesh Ready Tridonic driver. By embedding Mymesh software directly into the LED driver, the system removes the need for external control nodes. The result is lower hardware costs, faster installation, and reduced plastic, all while creating a wireless backbone for smart building integration.

Working with GA Harpers and BCG, and on behalf of Hammerson and JLL, Trojan supplied more than 4,500 luminaires, including linear and bulkhead fittings. The upgrade is designed to:

  • Halve energy use compared to the previous fluorescent system

  • Cut maintenance demands through self-test emergency lighting

  • Provide live compliance and energy reporting through the Mymesh system

By combining intelligent controls with efficient LED technology, the project sets a new standard for energy performance and compliance in retail and commercial environments.
