Trojan Lighting was commissioned by leading interior architecture and design practice Quadrant, to supply a lighting solution for the Eton Shirts flagship store in Mayfair, London. Known for its premium menswear and tailored customer experience, Eton’s retail spaces are finished to a high standard which required a lighting approach that enhances texture, colour and spatial design.
The project involved a full store refit, with boutique-style interiors and dark material finishes. The lighting had to define and enhance the environment, showcasing product quality and brand identity.
Our Role
Site Survey & Consultation
We began with a detailed survey of the Mayfair store, working closely with Quadrant to understand the design intent, layout constraints and desired customer journey. The space included a mix of boutique zones and darker finishes, which meant lighting needed to be both functional and atmospheric.
Lighting Design
Our in-house lighting design team developed a lighting plan that supported Eton’s premium aesthetic while delivering consistent, high-quality illumination across key areas. We modelled light levels, selecting beam angles, mounting heights and fitting types to suit display zones, circulation areas and changing rooms.
Technical Documentation
To support installation and commissioning, we produced a full set of technical documentation, including polar curves and photometric data. This helped ensure that fittings would perform as specified and allowed the project team to verify coverage, uniformity and light levels during setup.
Manufacture & Supply
Trojan manufactured and delivered all luminaires and system components to schedule, including fittings with features such as magnetic track spots and integrated emergency lighting. Each product was quality-checked and supplied ready for installation.
On-Site Support
We remained closely involved during the installation phase providing guidance on setup, system integration (with Mode Tiger control) and final adjustments. Our team was available to troubleshoot and advise, helping to keep the project running smoothly and aligned with the client’s expectations.
Lighting Supplied
The lighting is controlled via the Mode Tiger dimming system, a keypad-based scene-setting control platform ideal for retail environments. Designed for reliability and ease of use, it offers flexible, programmable lighting zones that adapt to different store layouts, displays and times of day.
Retail Lighting That Works
At Trojan, we design lighting that enhances retail environments from the ground up, focusing not just on how a space looks, but how it works for staff, customers and the brand.
In Eton’s Mayfair store, every fitting was selected to meet a specific purpose:
Poplar Pro 64
Used to deliver precise, high-output illumination across shelving and product display zones. Its narrow beam angles and high colour rendering index (CRI 90+) mean fabrics appear vibrant and true-to-life, critical for a brand built around colour, texture and detail.
Acorn 65
Provides soft ambient lighting with excellent vertical illumination, ideal for maintaining a consistent visual tone across boutique-style spaces. It helps balance the contrast between dark interior finishes and display lighting, without washing out the atmosphere.
Ezra 24 Micro Spot
Discreet and highly directional, this compact track spotlight is perfect for highlighting specific pieces, mannequins or feature displays. With a low visual profile and magnetic mounting system, it supports quick repositioning as store layouts evolve.
Hinckley Track Emergency
Emergency lighting is integrated into the main track system ensuring compliance without compromising aesthetic. The self-test feature reduces the need for manual checks, freeing up staff and reducing maintenance effort.
Mode Tiger Control System
Offers simple yet powerful control of different lighting zones via programmable scenes. Whether it’s brightening for peak trading hours or softening the tone for private appointments, staff can adjust lighting at the touch of a button.
