Trojan Lighting supported a major lighting upgrade at Newcastle City Library, a six-storey landmark building in the heart of the city that serves over 60,000 visitors each month. Working in partnership with the design and installation team, Solarcrown Commercial, we supplied a full package of retrofit and new-build lighting solutions across two carefully planned phases.
Phase 1: Supplying Retrofit Solutions
The first phase focused on replacing outdated fittings with energy-efficient LED alternatives. We delivered a tailored range of retrofit products including:
- DALI dimmable linear luminaires
- DALI dimmable linear luminaires with emergency functionality
- Custom LED gear trays with diffusers for floodlights
- Ashurst downlights supplied with bespoke bezels to suit existing cut-outs
All products were designed to be DALI-compatible and to work with Vossloh-Schwabe’s wireless Blu2Light control system.
Phase 2: Supplying New Lighting
Phase two involved a new supply package for additional areas of the building. For this, we delivered:
- High bay fittings for the six-storey atrium
- Ambleside downlights
- Evington bulkheads
- Grimrod IP66-rated external bulkheads
Focused on Performance and Delivery
Throughout both phases, our role was to ensure the right products were delivered to site, on time and ready to install. This included supporting the integration of lighting controls and ensuring all emergency fittings met BS 5266 standards.
