Scholes Village

Trojan Lighting Solutions was selected to manufacture lighting for Scholes Village, a residential project spanning five blocks of flats. The existing 1960s lighting was outdated, inefficient, and lacked the flexibility and control needed for modern standards. Our task was to design and implement a comprehensive lighting solution that not only reduced energy consumption but also improved safety, compliance, and the overall living experience for residents, aligning with BS5266-1 regulations.

To achieve these goals, we began with an in-depth lighting design tailored to the unique needs of the project. The design ensured the solution was both resident-centric and efficient, providing better lighting quality while optimising energy use. This design also provided the landlord with complete visibility over energy consumption and system performance, addressing long-standing operational challenges.

During the installation phase, we supplied over 2,300 lighting fixtures, including bulkhead, emergency, and exit lights, across communal areas, corridors, and stairwells. Products such as the Evesham, Grimrod, Marland, Hazel, and Jarrow luminaires were chosen for their durability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. These fittings incorporated advanced Tridonic components, which offer exceptional energy efficiency, precise optical control, and reliable performance. With lifespans of up to 100,000 hours and high ingress protection ratings, they ensure durability and dependability in both internal and external environments, while also supporting smart system integration and enhanced lighting quality.

A key feature of the project was the integration of a Mymesh-enabled wireless control system. This smart network transformed the lighting infrastructure into an intelligent building system, capable of supporting features beyond traditional lighting. The Mymesh system allowed for dynamic lighting control, including scenes and timers. The flexibility of the system was particularly valuable in communal areas, enabling lighting to adapt to changing needs and schedules while maintaining optimal energy efficiency.

To provide full management, we used Mymesh’s state-of-the-art Lumitel dashboard to give the landlord real-time visibility and control over the lighting system. This management platform allows for detailed monitoring of energy usage, automated emergency lighting testing, and fault reporting, ensuring that issues are identified and addressed quickly. The automation of compliance tasks, such as emergency lighting tests, reduced administrative burdens while ensuring adherence to regulations.

The outcome of this project is a modern, future-proof lighting system that significantly enhances the functionality and efficiency of the Scholes Village infrastructure. The upgrade has not only improved energy efficiency but also enhanced safety, with automated compliance reporting and better illumination in key areas. Residents now benefit from a more comfortable and well-lit environment, while the landlord enjoys greater control and operational insights.

This project highlights Trojan Lighting’s expertise in developing tailored, intelligent lighting solutions that meet complex requirements. By combining innovative design, smart technology, and a focus on user needs, we provided Scholes Village with a solution that balances energy efficiency, compliance, and resident well-being.
